Zip Line

Campers love our 300-yard zip line! The first step off the platform makes your heart beat faster…then it's smooth sailing as you glide above our beautiful camp grounds.

Waterfront

Our waterfront activities on a 175-acre lake are a highlight of our campers’ summers. All campers at Schodack learn to ski and lake activities are a foundation of our camp program. Our three inboard Malibu boats provide countless hours of waterskiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding. With kayaks, canoes, 4-person paddleboats, paddle boards and body boards – our seven waterfront instructors provide a safe, fun and active program.

Amphitheater

This gorgeous, open-air space, with tiered seating is home to outdoor theater productions, all-camp get-togethers, Paul's weekly stories, and “Fire Circle,” a wonderful tradition where campers publicly acknowledge each other's positive deeds. This woodsy, outdoor setting is a favorite place for campers and staff.

Archery

The thrill of a straight shot right into the center of the target! Archery is one of those activities that most children only experience at camp. Following the American Archery Association guidelines, campers have ample opportunity to become really good archers at Schodack through guided lessons, generous feedback and on-site Archery competitions.

Arts & Crafts

Campers love our recently renovated and expansive Arts and Crafts complex. Our six specialty Arts staff set up multiple stations with a variety of art medium for our campers. Our Arts room is always a beehive of activity with jewelry making, pottery, glasswork , woodworking and much more!

Baseball/Softball

Our beautiful field and batting cage is a favorite place on camp for boys and girls of all ages. Used alternately for softball and baseball, our facility is the perfect place to have a catch, try for a home run over the fence, or play a multi-inning game. Our field is also home to one of our favorite alumni events, The Mark Offitzer Cup, and many pitching, hitting and fielding competitions throughout the summer.

Basketball

Every basketball court at Schodack is a hot spot! We have pick-ups games, leagues and first-rate instruction going on all the time at our two main outdoor courts, our smaller Junior Camp court and in our indoor field house. Basketball is a key sport in our more competitive, optional Ultra-Leagues program.

Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking was a very popular addition to Schodack in 2012! Between riding on our challenging obstacle course and traversing our many acres of camp terrain, some campers even learn how to ride a bike for the first time. We also travel to beautiful state parks in the local area to go on daylong mountain bike rides for particularly enthusiastic riders.

Our bright, airy and comfortable bunks are well lit with lots of windows, ceiling fans and great ventilation. Each bunk has modern, private bathrooms and individual showers, which are professionally cleaned daily, electric outlets by every bed, and plenty of storage and hanging space for campers' belongings. The cabins vary in size and configuration and have large, beautiful wooden porches with built-in benches.

Camping

Nestled in the picturesque setting of our own woods, all campers have the option of spending an exciting night under the stars at our campsite. For many campers, the experience of creating a campfire, cooking their own meal, making s'mores and telling stories before sleeping in comfortable tents is a highlight of the summer. These overnights are led by our specially- trained hiking/adventure staff who also guide expeditions through our private woods and other nearby state parks.

Climbing Tower

Our 5-sided state-of-the-art climbing tower allows 10 campers at a time to climb safely according to their own comfort and ability level! Our five specially -trained ropes staff facilitate this activity.

Dining Hall

Campers rave about our dining hall and food options! From our relaxed buffet breakfasts to our all-camp family-style lunches and dinners, our Dining Hall serves as a daily gathering spot for the whole camp to share. At every meal we have a multitude of delicious options including salad bars, pasta bars, deli sandwich and soup bars, and fresh fruit stations – all in addition to the main dishes being served (by our very own Leadership Trainees – our 15 and 16 year old campers) to the tables! Meals with bunkmates and counselors are a cherished part of the Schodack day.

Campfire

Few experiences are more memorable then a star-lit evening spent with your bunkmates and counselors making s'mores, telling camp stories and singing songs around a crackling bonfire. This is a regularly scheduled night activity for all age groups and a cherished Schodack tradition.

Gaga

Well-known outside of America (there's even an International Championship Tournament held annually in Europe!) gaga has fast become a beloved game among Schodack campers. Players of all ages and abilities love this fast-paced, easy-to-learn activity. The game moves quickly, and loud cheers can always be heard around the octagonal wooden gaga courts.

Game Room

Learning how to take pictures, manipulating the images in iphoto, and printing the results are the experiences awaiting our campers interested in photography. Under the guidance of our dedicated photo counselor, campers can see their images displayed around camp, printed in the daily newspaper, or maybe even wind up in the end-of-summer yearbook!

The Garden

This beautifully designed, 9500 sq. ft. all-enclosed field house serves many functions at camp. Primarily an indoor basketball court and ping-pong facility, it also acts as a favorite activity center for rainy days and night activities. New York and New England campers continue to debate which of their hometown arenas “The Garden” is named after.

Go Karts

A tremendously fun and exhilarating activity! The excitement of our 4-acre dirt track and the challenge of learning basic driving skills leaves campers wanting to go again and again! Our five brand new “Scho”-karts provide a lot of excitement and entertainment at an activity that is not easy to take part in at home!

Golf Driving Range

Our golf instructor helps campers learn the fundamentals of golf on our 300-yard driving range and our challenging 9-hole pitch and putt course. Golf enthusiasts who have practiced their skills on our regular trips off camp to the local Evergreen Country Club keenly contest our “Masters Tournament” every summer.

Gymnastics

Our two full-time gymnastics staff makes their activity fun in our open-air gymnastics pavilion. Our program focuses on floor, vaulting, balance beam and obstacle course routines!

Team Handball

We bring the Olympics to camp with this enjoyable, fast-paced sport. Team Handball is an easy game for all ages to learn and play.

Health Center

The Health Center

Our air-conditioned health center is staffed by four round-the-clock nurses, a health center coordinator and visiting nurse practitioners and doctors. Our health center staff are attentive and sensitive to the needs of each camper and are always highly communicative with parents whenever necessary. Health and safety are top priorities for us at Schodack and we have a long history of superb medical facilities and care.

High Ropes Course

Our carefully designed high ropes course is an exciting challenge for our older campers. Campers climb through the space loops, hustle up the giant ladder and develop confidence and team-building skills as they tackle these and other stimulating, high ropes elements. Our five specially- trained ropes staff facilitate this activity.

Street Hockey

One-timer…slapshot…goal! Our fully enclosed, regulation-sized street hockey rink is a great place for campers to hone their skills and play competitive games. This lit facility allows the more avid players additional opportunities to play.

Horse Corral

Campers love riding in our gated riding ring and on trails through the 60 beautiful acres of our own private woods. We have ten horses and three specialized instructors that make for an exciting and popular western riding program. Campers can help with the grooming and care of the horses and can also choose to go on extended lunch rides for an afternoon picnic.

Jr Camp Playground

This is an immensely popular area specifically designated for our younger campers. Age-appropriate facilities such as junior-sized basketball hoops, a “juniors-only” gaga-court, and multiple tetherball courts create an inviting play area for our youngest boys and girls.

Lacrosse Field

Given the national popularity of the sport, we have expanded our lacrosse program for beginners and more experienced players alike. Whether it's learning the basics or playing a full-on competitive game (with complete equipment), our designated lacrosse field provides the perfect space.

Low Ropes Course

It takes teamwork to get everyone over "The Wall" – one of our 5 creatively utilized low ropes elements. Our low ropes course is a fun and active way for campers to work as a team and strengthen communication skills. Our five specially -trained ropes staff facilitate this activity.

The Playhouse

Each summer the newly renovated Playhouse sees a complete Broadway musical, a full Theatrical revue and the amazing Schodack tradition of three performance events called "The Triple Crown". Decades of wonderful performances and amazing camp memories ring within the walls of this building.

Pools

In our 2 heated pools, quality swim instruction takes place almost every day for younger campers and every other day for older groups. Six Certified Waterfront Instructors provide individual and small group American Red Cross Instruction. Campers also enjoy free swim, night swim under the lights, intercampus swim meets, water basketball lifeguarding and scuba-diving courses.

Rec Hall

One of the most historic and nostalgic buildings on camp, the Rec Hall serves many functions including yoga instruction, dance rehearsals and instruction, night activities and rainy day events. Just look to the rafters to see decades of Schodack tradition symbolized in the majestic hand-painted Tribals plaques, dating back to the early days of Schodack.

Lovers of soccer will have their passion well catered to at Schodack. We have two magnificent fields (one professionally-lit for night play), which serve as great facilities for campers to improve their skills. Soccer is one of the key sports of our Ultra-Leagues, an intra-camp sports league that provides much fun and positive energy for campers who choose to participate.

Tennis

Our seven hard courts are home to our very popular tennis program. Local tennis pro Tom Bain leads three excellent instructors who teach at all levels of the game and are sure to improve your child's skills with group or individual lessons. Our regular tournaments are a great opportunity for campers to participate at a high level and get some fun competition.

Sand Volleyball

Bump...Set...Spike! Kick off your shoes and let our volleyball counselor lead you in games and fun activities to teach you this great team sport. Our regulation-sized sand volleyball court is the perfect place to gain basic skills or play a more competitive game.

Welcome Center

The Welcome Center is an inviting meeting place for visitors to Schodack and showcases pictures of thousands of campers and counselors from our historic past. In the rear of the building is our Game Room, a friendly gathering spot which houses ping-pong tables, air-hockey, quiet board games such as chess and checkers, a comfy reading area and a small library.

Flagpole

Our whole camp community meets here before every meal to acknowledge camper achievements and make announcements about upcoming events. This has been a favorite gathering spot since 1957!
