The Berkshire mountains are sprinkled with picturesque towns and villages, and Camp Schodack is home to one of the region’s premier summer camp locations. Known as a popular summer and ski vacation destination, the Berkshires offers your child a summer of endless fun and tantalizing activities! Your camper will enjoy hiking, waterskiing, horseback riding, swimming, biking, camping and a host of other choices during their camp experience at Schodack. With over 100 acres of privately-owned land, and more than 60 acres of playing fields, rolling hills, and numerous activity areas, campers are encouraged to enjoy the beauty of the region while engaging with campers and counselors who love the outdoors. Whether it’s scrambling up our 40-ft climbing tower, enjoying a horseback ride through our charming backcountry trails, working one-on-one with a tennis pro to improve their serve on one of our many tennis courts, or learning to fine-tune their skills on the basketball court with a team of like-minded campers, your child will experience the magic of camp in an outstanding setting with state-of-the-art facilities.
Choosing a location for your child’s summer camp venture is all about beauty, facilities and accessibility. An easy 2 ½ hours from New York City or Boston, Camp Schodack is far enough away from home for your child to learn resiliency and gain a sense of independence, yet close enough for a quick ride up for a visit! The idyllic setting of Camp Schodack, nestled in the foothills of the Berkshires, offers the enchanting location you look for in a summer camp setting, while still being conveniently close to wherever you are. Additionally, being close to major amenities such as Albany Airport and Albany Medical Center, you’ll feel reassured to know your child will thrive in the vibrant beauty of the mountains while being a short drive away from sophisticated health and transportation options. Many of our families take advantage of the myriad of activities available in the neighboring towns while their children enjoy the summer camp experience.
Your child will have the opportunity to visit many of the Berkshires’ treasured institutions such as Tanglewood Music Center, Mass MOCA and Jacob’s Pillow, a well-regarded dance school which hosts local and international dance acts throughout the summer. Known as a thriving cultural center as well as an adventure destination, the Berkshires are home to a host of adventure activities and cultural events. Campers can choose to join adventure hikes on numerous local trails, visit waterfalls and parks, and waterski on our shimmering lake.
