2020 Head Staff Announcement: Activity Counselor Supervisor

12.11.2019

The latest of our Head Staff announcements for 2020 is that Lewis Fear is returning as one of our 2 Activity Coordinator Supervisors (ACS). This is Lewis’ 8th year at Schodack and we are thrilled that he will be working with us again. After helping to oversee and coordinate our hugely popular lake program for many summers, Lewis returned to Schodack in 2019 as one of our Head Staff and he enjoyed it so much that he is back for more.

Below Lewis has taken the time to write and tell us more about himself and his love of all things Schodack…

__________

Who said 7 years is long enough at camp? 100% wasn’t me! So here I am, BACK again for my 8th summer at camp! Just want to pop by and say hello to everyone and say I’m back again on Head Staff as ACS.  The full-time Camp Team asked me to answer some questions,  so I could introduce myself to all of you that I haven’t yet met.

What do you remember the most from your first summer?

For my first year at Schodack I was a part of the lake staff team. I still remember my very first boat ride with the Ottowa Girls, including Hannah Schmelkin, Morgan Phillips, Molly McGuinness, Claudia Guetta, Sanchez, and Dani Kliegerman.  They were  awesome at kneeboarding and that memory will always stay with me.

What is your Favorite Camp Activity/Event?

No shock here but the lake is my paradise. Arriving early in the morning before anyone else is there, is amazing. Seeing the water flat and still, and looking like glass always takes my breath away every time I lay eyes on it. There is no better way to get your day started.

What is your Favorite Camp meal?

I have 2! The first one is turkey dinner. One too many times, Sam Loxton (Ropes) and I, would finish plate after plate after plate. The gravy, stuffing, carrots and of course the turkey, I love it! Next is the tacos/fajitas.  I just love them and I eat bowls and bowls. Just ask the Head Staff from last year, they’ll all agree!

What was the best thing about last summer?

For me, it is a standout moment being involved in Tribals and getting to play SCAR from the Lion King! Being Scar for Tribals last year was amazing. From pretending to throw Doug off the high ropes to battling Josh Baker (SPEC) in the pit and breaking a colorless Tribals with Shira! It was simply the most amazing feeling ever! Tribals is such a special time at Camp and to be a part of the ‘Break’ is a really special feeling.

Last but not least, what are you looking forward to the most this summer?

I’m looking forward to seeing each camper and staff member, old and new. Watching campers push themselves at activities and becoming better at each one. Seeing all my old campers come back for their 2nd year on staff and watch them grow as counselors. These are the reasons that I love coming back to Schodack each and every summer.

That’s all from me, please feel free to write and let me know your answers to the questions above. I’m looking forward to reading the comments. See you all in the summer. Aloha!

After working as an Au Pair in NYC for 18 months until the end of last summer, Lewis currently lives in London and is enjoying life in the UK. He is very excited to be back for another summer at Schodack and we know that he brings great energy and exceptional knowledge of all of Camp’s activities with him to the ACS role.
