We’re excited to welcome Lisa to our year-round team as Assistant Director of Bunk Life.

Lisa (formerly “Goldenberg”) first came to Schodack as a camper in 1992 and returned for 9 summers as a CIT, Bunk Counselor, and Group Leader. Lisa’s connection to Schodack is a true full-circle story and one that feels especially meaningful to us. She grew up in Tampa, Florida and later attended Skidmore College in upstate New York, not far from camp. After graduating, Lisa spent six years working in marketing and advertising before realizing her passion was really about working with young people. She returned to school to earn a Master’s in School Counseling from Hunter College, and went on to spend fourteen years supporting students as a Guidance Counselor and College Counselor in New York City high schools.

Last summer marked a wonderful return to Schodack for Lisa and her entire family. Lisa’s daughter, Joni (8), attended Rookie Day back in 2024, and neither she nor Lisa wanted to leave! Joni went on to become a first-time camper last summer as a Cedar Girl, while Lisa managed our Camp Office. Lisa’s younger daughter, Mia (5), joined too and became a Sapling with the youngest Schodack “campers.” Her husband, Andy, also visited over the summer and was particularly struck by the magic of the Schodack community at Fire Circle and Burning of the Year. Since returning home to Brooklyn, the whole family has been singing camp songs and doing camp dances nonstop.

Some of Lisa’s favorite Schodack memories include winning Triple Crown in 1994, being part of a small and close-knit CIT bunk in 1997, and serving as a 2-Day White Team General in 2001. Her favorite camp meals were grilled cheese with tomato soup and Chicken McSchodack and her go-to camp snack was a fudgesicle! She loved lake, gymnastics, tennis, and arts and crafts, and her favorite time of day at camp was third Camper Choice.

With her lifelong connection to Schodack, professional experience with kids, and deep appreciation for camp adjustment from every angle, Lisa brings an amazing perspective to this role. We are thrilled to welcome her back to camp and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our campers and staff in the years ahead.
