This past week has been full of peak summer moments!! We had our first 5-Day Tribals fake, which always gets the energy going as everyone is excited to learn the theme and see that arrow break. Anticipation is growing throughout camp for all the excitement still to come.
On Sunday we had our second LT carnival of the summer! It included a sock wrestling station, derby races in the garden, and the ever-popular dunk tank out on the lawn. The LTs rocked this event as always and provided such a fun event for the entire camp.
Our final leg of the Triple Crown is approaching tomorrow night! It;s been a treat to see the bunks working on their songs and getting plaques ready for the big night. Speaking of performances…our Second Session musical, a collection of Disney-Themed Songs and Acts, is in the final stages of rehearsals. We can’t wait to see the debut!!!
Our Running Club has continued to fly around camp…campers have been waking up at 7am to get in a job before breakfast. We are proud of these dedicated runners! Matt’s camp-wide cleanup project had an unbelievable turnout and everyone who participated got a special treat from Lyle and Olivia at Matt and Adelle’s house! What a week this has been!!!

Hello from camp!
Another week down in the second session! We had a super fun Tuesday Trip Day to Guptill’s Roller Skating Arena. Everyone enjoyed skating, followed by a classic trip-day lunch of sandwiches and fan-favorite Doritos, and then soft-serve ice cream at Guptuills Ice Cream Shop! But wait… there’s more! We also saw the new Smurfs Movie before heading back to camp.
That night, back at camp, Junior Camp bunks competed in my favorite night activity… Flashlight Sing! The gist is: bunks have to come up with as many songs with a selected word (i.e: love, happy, smile), and then go around singing a piece of each song they come up with, but you can’t repeat any songs already sung by another group!
On Wednesday, we had a Blister Day Afternoon, with an all-camp pool party due to the heat!
Some other highlights from this sunny week:
The Aspen, Balsam, and Cedar Girls are hard at work on their Bunk Plaque Night, “BPN” songs to perform in front of the whole camp this Saturday! Each bunk picks a name, rewrites lyrics to a song for their performance, and creates a custom wooden plaque that will hang in the Playhouse. The Aspen Girls are “All About Aspen,” The Balsam Girls are “Balsam Besties,” and The Cedar Girls are “Cedar Spice and Everything Nice!”
Thanks for tuning in, we can’t wait for all the fun still to come.
Bye for now! 🙂
Junior Boys
Energy levels have been high for the Balsam boys this week. This week included lots of great night activities such as blankety blank, trivia and tag medleys. The boys have also enjoyed lots of timed running races from night activity to the bunk. Trip day this week was a trip to the movies and roller skating which was thoroughly enjoyed. We had our first tribals fake this week which has got the boys excited for 5 day.
Some boys from the bunk have taken part in more camping trips and there was also a rafting trip. They had a great time off camp and came back smiling ear to ear. Camp is flying by but the junior boys are enjoying every moment and are taking it all in. Day time activity highlights were tennis, 9 square and ninja. Many boys from the bunk took part in the Schodack Open!!! The Balsam Boys have lots of great things to look forward to and we will make the most of everything.

Super Junior Girls
Hi parents!!! checking in with highlights from an unforgettable Week 5 here in the 12123!
With just a few weeks left of camp, the energy in our division is stronger than ever. The friendships are deep, the laughter is nonstop, and every day brings something new to love about Schodack. We kicked things off with a fan favorite…FIRE CIRCLE! Which was followed by the all-camp, high-spirited, rock-paper-scissors tournament.
Next was the second half LT carnival! Which this time included a horse racing event. Tuesday Trip Day was a blast as we headed off to see The Smurfs, followed by ice cream and roller skating. Whether they were dancing in their seats at the movie or helping each other around the rink, the Super Junior Girls made the most of every moment. It was one of those days where the smiles said it all. To top it off, we had a high-energy special event afternoon with the legendary Meagan Boys Hype Squad. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and our girls brought their best moves and biggest cheers.
As we head into the final stretch of summer, I’m blown away by the spirit, kindness, and sisterhood this group continues to show. I can’t wait to share more memories with you next week!
All the best from the 12123,
–Lilly DH
Super Junior Boys
Hi everyone,
Wow, that went by fast! The Super Junior Boys had such a fun week.
I really enjoyed going to the lake with the Oak and Maple Boys for the afternoon. We took a joyride on the boat, and it was so fun to see the kids enjoying the banana boat. I also went out on the small boats and loved spending time bonding with the boys. Plus, shoutout to the Maple Boys later that afternoon for driving me in Scho-Karts. Such a fun memory. I also enjoyed hanging with the Elm Boys at the JCP where we played gaga together. To wrap up the day, the Oak Boys led Fire Circle with the theme “Devotion.” They did an amazing job leading by example in front of the entire camp.
Sunday brought Rookie Day, and the kids were all so welcoming to new friends. In the afternoon, we had the second LT Carnival. The boys had a blast enjoying really fun games led by the LTs and so much yummy candy. Always a highlight of the summer.
On another high-energy day full of activity, some boys went on a golfing trip, while others were at camp enjoying activities. I joined the Elm Boys at the lake for a great morning together. They were amazing at waterskiing and kneeboarding. The Elm Boys also enjoyed art, hockey, handball, and more. The Maple Boys had fun with flag football, the pool, kickball, and more. The Oak Boys enjoyed golf, gaga, Scho-Karts, and more. We ended the day with a camp classic, Bombardment. Plus, mixed in was BPN practice, already underway for the third leg of the Triple Crown event.
Trip day was a total hit. We watched the Smurfs movie, went roller skating, and enjoyed some delicious ice cream. There were so many flavors to choose from. So much good food, time with friends, and really fun activities. The boys love trip day.
Also this week the SJB division came together for a bonfire with s’mores. There’s something really special about sitting around the fire, making the perfect s’more, and spending time with boys from other bunks.
Later in the week, after morning activities, we had a special event in the afternoon with the Magen Boys and a visit from the Kona Ice truck. What a phenomenal day.
A full week of activities and amazing memories. The boys continue to make the most of every day at Schodack. We are gearing up for our Super Junior Special Event Afternoon on Sunday: “Yes Day.” More information on this amazing (and delicious) event in the next newsletter!
All the best from the 12123,
Russell DH
Middle Girls
Wow what a week it has been for the middle girls full of laughs, special events, and more memories made.
The Spruce Girls had an amazing dance period where they showed off their best moves and then we had a broadway sing off singing their hearts out!
The Pine Girls had a great time at gymnastics learning new tricks and showing off the skills they already know!
The Walnut Girls have been practicing their serves, forehands, and backhands at tennis and swings at golf with enthusiasm and great spirit!
The Sycamore Girls had a delicious cooking period making mac and cheese for everyone to enjoy!
Saturday our night activity was fire circle followed by a game of rock, paper, scissors in the garden where many girls took part and had a great time. Sunday was the second rookie day and LT carnival which was a camp favorite event! We all enjoyed snow cones, cotton candy, cookies, competed in horse racing and had the most amazing day. Rain or shine all of the middle girls have been having the best summer.
Monday afternoon we had a middle girls special event where we all decorated hair clips and hair brushes with bedazzling kits and stickers gems. Everyone was so creative with designs and colors and now they wear all of their accessories all over camp too! It was a sparkly glitz and glam afternoon that we had the best time at.
Tuesday’s trip day was roller skating and a movie! We got on the buses at camp heading off the skating rink and had lunch followed by some yummy ice cream. Then we all roller skated and showed off our speedy skills around the rink. Afterwards we went to the movie theatre where some middle girls watched Fantastic Four and others saw Lilo and Stitch. Many got popcorn and snacks and loved both movies.
Wednesday all of the middle girls at some point during the day made it down to the lake! Many water skied, banana boated, went on the knee board, and some even attempted to slalom ski which is going on the water skis with just one ski! It was another hot day at camp so in the afternoon we had a blister day where we all cooled off by getting in the pool!
Thursday we had our special event afternoon with the Magen Boys making a return, leading dances, handing out shirts and other swag, and we were all very happy they were back. The Kona Ice Truck made an entrance which was a camp classic we were excited to have again. We ended the day with SPEC viewing practicing our BPNs and getting ready for the last leg of triple crown coming up this weekend.
There have also been some recent tribals fakes with everyone wondering when color war will be happening. So many fun events are still to come this summer and everyone is looking forward to them all. It was another phenomenal week at camp and sad that the summer is going by so fast but we are making every moment last and holding on as long as we can! See you next week!

Middle Boys
Middle Boy Miracle Makers,
Time really does fly when you are having fun! I cannot even begin to fathom how fast this summer has flown by. It is a great thing that time at camp is all distorted because of the excitement that comes with each day. Every single middle boy had a ‘fantastic’ trip day where we stretched our legs as much as we could for some roller skating. Some of the boys were zipping around the rink; I could barely see them. The rest are on their way to being pro roller skaters but may need some ice packs for their tushies. They could barely remember falling because they scarfed down some fire soft serve. It was clobbering time at the movie theater, where the boys got buckets of popcorn bigger than their heads. The boys did become invisible right after because who likes picking up trash? If you could not tell by my puns, all of the middle boys watched the new Fantastic Four movie. It was a phenomenal trip day. It did not end there, though. The tournaments keep going, and the boys just keep on playing. Our 3v3 basketball tournament was an absolute slam dunk. The week continued with omelettes, cinnamon rolls, and a fan favorite, lox, for our lazy morning Wednesdays. It was definitely a scorcher, but thankfully we all cooled off in the pools. The special events continued on Thursday with some more Kona Ice and the Magen Boys, who embody a bar mitzvah party scene. Who knew that the only way to incentivize teenage boys to clean is some candy? Our fierce cleanup competition is heating up, and the bunks are super clean for my sake and for yours. The smiles continue to shine from ear to ear, and the bottles of soap are slowly but surely going down each day. As the middle boys often say, camp is skibidi!
The saga is starting to enter its resolution, but not quite yet!
#1 Division Head,
Jack Cohen
Super Seniors
What a week it has been for the Super Seniors! First, we enjoyed a jam-packed weekend full of magic shows, ice cream parties, movie night and more. In this week’s Super Senior Survivor event, the orange team took the win and enjoyed a special dunkin breakfast catered just for them!
On Tuesday morning, we ventured out to our final overnight trip of the summer, Boston! On Tuesday, we headed to Level 99 and participated in some physical, mental and escape room challenges. After checking into the hotel, we took the bus to Fenway Park for a private tour of the oldest ballpark! We even got to sit in the green monster and the press box! Last, we enjoyed a special pizza at a local restaurant. The next morning, we headed to the Massachusetts State House, and learned all about the senate, and some of the history of Massachusetts. We then walked along parts of the freedom trail and stopped along the way to learn about the granary cemetery, kings chapel burial ground and the old state house, which was the site of the Boston massacre in 1770. The historic trail led us to Quincy Market, where we enjoyed some food like Lobster, Sushi, smoothies and more. Finally, we boarded the bus once more and traveled to Newbusy street for some shopping. We had an amazing trip full of history lessons, shopping and eating and fun!
When we arrived back at camp, we had a special event day with a visit from the beloved Magen boys and the Kona Ice truck! This week, we are looking forward to BPN, our last trip day, and special events to come!
See you next week!
With love from the 12123,
Mae DH
LTs
The LTs are writing you this chapter from Montreal after another packed week. Last Friday we welcomed back Hope 7 for an emotional visit. It was a fun-filled event with water sliding, climbing tower, go karting and pool time. There were lots of tears on both sides when it came time to say goodbye and we are looking forward to renewing our friendships next summer. Saturday Night was the annual Rock, Paper Snerson tournament. Shane Goldberg made a valiant attempt to repeat, taken down only in the semifinal – and we were pleased to see one of our alums, Charlie Mangot, lift the coveted crown. The next day the LTs ran a second Carnival for the whole camp and for Rookie Day on Sunday afternoon. Monday saw the final challenge day where the final results of the summer-long challenge were calculated. The winners will be revealed at the Banquet in the final week! Canada is a special treat every year with Jet Boating, a visit to La Ronde, fine dining in Old Montreal, the views and emotions of the scenic views on Mont Royal and then shopping at Roots! The week ahead looks fun as well, with Bunk Plaque Night and the much-anticipated LT show in the forefront of everyone’s mind. These are also the days when the second years focus on their permanent bunks and the first years are already starting to think about 2026 and where their area of specialization is likely to lie.
More From The Week
Our annual Rock, Paper, Snerson (Scissors) Tournament took place this week and a new champion, SS BC Charlie Mangot, was crowned. We also hosted the Magen Boys for our Thursday Special Event. They threw a wild party in the Playhouse, with great music and tons of dancing. Kona Ice made their second visit of the summer also which was a real treat.
Bunk Activities have been as fun as ever, with standouts being the lake (so many campers have been getting up on skis for the first time!), cooking with Chefs Alex and Drew, Hockey games with Eli and riding the horses and waterslide. Laurie Ropes has also expanded our Nature Program this summer with many expeditions taking place in our woods. See below about updates on Inter-Camps and Ultra Leagues too!
Schochella returns after Fire Circle tonight where campers and staff will perform at our Camp Schodack Music Festival. The Music Room has been filled with up-and-coming musicians practicing their tunes and getting excited to show off their talents. Every day at camp is filled with so many exciting moments it is impossible to list them all!
UltraLeagues + Inter Camps
It was a jam-packed day of intercamp action here at Schodack as our 7th and 8th graders took on Camp Scatico! The morning games featured our 7th grade teams, with the girls soccer team earning an impressive 4–0 win, and the boys basketball team locking in a strong 35–23 victory. Our 7th grade boys soccer team battled to a tight 1–1 draw, while the girls basketball team played hard in a tough matchup that ended in a 29–5 loss.
That night, the lights came on for our 8th grade doubleheader. The boys basketball team brought energy and teamwork in a great win, while the girls soccer team played an incredible game that ended in a nail-biting penalty shootout, just falling short in the final moments. From start to finish, it was an exciting day of competition and Schodack spirit!
Scoop Of The Week
And that’s a wrap on the fourth week at Camp Schodack! We’ll be back next Friday with more stories, highlights, and moments from Week Four.
